Dominar Modification Accessories / Mods on My Bike
« on: June 16, 2018, 06:14:02 AM »
Hello guys,

I would like to share few modifications done on my Dominar 400

1. Front Numbers plate holder. ₹350

This comes above your front mudguard. It looks good. Cost was around 350.

2. KTM grips. ₹250

This is a good option as the stock one started sticking and became very loose.

3. KTM knuckle guard. ₹ 980

This is also a good mod as this helps to protect your clutch and brake levers during impact.

4. Mobile holder and charger. ₹ 650-800

I bought a Chinese one. It's been a year and still good.

5. KTM 250 mirrors. ₹500

This has helped a lot. The view angle and coverage has improved after upgrading to KTM 250 mirrors.

6. KTM adjustable clutch lever. ₹ 750-850

You can adjust your clutch as per your requirement.

7. AS 200 visor with clamps. ₹ 750

Much better compared to the stock visor. But you will still feel some air passing across your helmet.

8. Radiator guard. ₹350

Better to Install one as it protects radiator unit.

9. Crash Guard. ₹3500

Using a custom made Crash Guard looks neat and strong.

10. CR Back rest.

I use this only during long rides with Pelion. Pelion comfort and confidence will increase with this modification.

11. Silencer guard. ₹ 350

This will protects your silencer during small fall.

Note : all the above modifications where done according to my comfort, it can change from person to person.

Thank you bhai for the reply.

For 1.5 km how much has it drained with Motocool?

Coolent grade used varies on different bike model depending on cc. We have a main tank for coolent which has around 750 ml in it, if stock one is good quality then again it must take years for it to drain as reservoir tank has 250 ml only and it started draining for me from 9000 km and was very fast after that... There is something else which is causing this need to find that.

Just had conversations with Giri (he is an engineer representing Bajaj for Karnataka) he wanted to personally inspect the bike for one or 2 days and give an update. Note: have not dropped email yet

Just had a chat with SC guy

He said he spoke to Giri Bajaj guy and He wants me to ride my bike till the coolent tank is empty, both main and reservoir 😡.
(Main tank contains 750ml and reservoir 250 ml) ride untill the bike stops with temperature warning 😠 I must let them know how much coolent is left in main tank.

More than 6 months no resolution no proper update. I feel I should have bought a hathi ..at least resale value is good😖...

They have tested and checked my bike I have no clue y they are doing all this

Cons / Coolant issue / Coolant leaks on Dominar 400

Hello friends

I would like to share a problem which I am facing in Dominar.

Problem:-

Coolant drains completely (somewhere between 800-1000km ) from the reservoir tank after top-up.
This problem started around ODO 8000km and now my ODO is 25000.
During ride this is a big issue because we really don't know where exactly it is disappearing :(
There are possibility for it to mix with engine oil and damage your engine.

Reason & Solution:-

There where multiple reasons given by service centre guys which they will try to fix as per the order below.

1. Airlock

They said that there are chances of airlock inside the radiator tank which is causing the coolent to disappear suddenly from the reservoir.
To fix this they drained entire coolent and will top-up again. After 500km test if this doesn't fix then point two.

2. Faulty tank or pipes

They will use a chalk to mark at each joints to check if any minute leak is there which is not visible. If they don't find any then step three.

3. Faulty coolent pump seal

This has been the main culprit for most of the bikes which had this problem.
Faulty coolent pump seal will let the Coolent mix with oil and will damage your engine as time gose hence changing this seal if faulty can fix this issue.. again 500km+ test sometimes they may ask you to try another 500km if no result then 😉

4. Replace engine head gasket

This is where it hurts for every owner.
They will bring your engine down and replace engine head gasket suspecting coolent to vaporiz here..now you will have to try 1000km coz first 500km SC(service centre) would ask you to maintain a speed less than 80kmph...if not fixed then..

5. Faulty Radiator.

Now SC will replace your radiator assembly and would ask you to try again.. if not fixed then comes the most painful thing..😟😞😣

6. Faulty packing sealant between the engine.

They will get your engine down again and will split it into two half horizontally from centre, apply some paste and fix your engine back.. after this I lost pickup and my engine was not smooth 😩😩
Again if issue not fixed..

7. Faulty engine head assembly.

They will get your engine down again and replace engine head..this was the last thing I tried and was upset when did not fix....

Bajaj SC wanted me to leave my bike there for 3 days for them to find the problem..I did not agree and have asked them to escalate to bajaj. The case is with Bajaj now and will update here if I get any response.... Please comment if you have any update on this.

Thank you.

The image is an example for 150km ride witnessed by SC guys.
