Ride, Rider stories & Travelogues / My biking journey
« on: June 25, 2018, 07:25:37 PM »
I am not a professional blogger, just giving a try here.
my first bike is 1997 bajaj chetak (its my old mans bike) after he died it came to my possession, at the age of 16, without license i drove it all around Bangalore, At that time i was not knowing about bikes and all so in one year i made it a oil burner, smoke generator once i meet with my first two wheeler accident, moreover i was on chetak handle than in-front of books so my mom sold it.
my second bike is Suzuki sholin i purchased it to roam with my friends and to show off in front of college girls, at that time i got to know about bikes engines built chamber, porting and all.
Afterwards i thought sholin lacks scope for modification so i brought its elder brother shogun and i did engine porting, added built chamber for performance and sound, at that time weekend stunting and drag racing was lot of riders weekend masti so every weekend i was going to see the drag racing which is held at midnight's every weekend.
my illegal drag racing started, once i went with my drag racing friend to watch him racing, when he launched his bike from stand still his bike went off the line he stumbled to take back control on his bike at that time he twisted his ankle so in second race he asked me to ride behalf of him so i rode his bike, i did't win but i completed the race in third place from their my craze for drag racing started, so i built my shogun for drag racing.
shogun with ported engine, imported piston and piston rings, ported head assembly, built chamber, imported cdi unit for better performance tuned to achieve speed of 60kmph in first gear and top speed of 145kmph. after some months i meet with an accident and sold the bike.
after wards i took legendary 1987 CKD unit RX 100 to continue my drag racing but started do stunting their also fell from bikes got injured and took diversion towards dirt tract racing so altered my RX 100 suitable for dirt track and practiced and attended some competitions in chennai pondichery pune hyderabad(i was not winner but attend the race and finished in top 10) at that time due to some financial problems stopped track days and given my bike to my brother inlaw and i took another RX135 rivalry, one of the best 4 stroke bike of its time SUZUKI FIERO for my daily commute and touring
i did 10 days, 15 days long tours in my fiero and it has proven his loyalty to me in some scary situations and saved me in some dangerous crashes,
after a long relation of 11 years dominar has given company for my fiero and these two bikes are serving me right now.
here i mentioned my riding history and sorry for a long post please pardon me for any grammar or spelling mistakes

General Discussion / Decoding bike chassis number
« on: June 06, 2018, 01:09:51 AM »
The chassis number is quite long in the Bajaj vehicles. So I will just quote the last 8 digits which looks like this. XYZ12345. In this X, is the year and Y is for plant, Z is the month. If X is H it's 2017. If X is G it's 2016. If Y is W, it's produced in Waluj plant. If Y is C, it is produced in Chakan. For Z, A is for April, B is for May and so on, up to M for March.
