28 March 2018 was the day when my black beast entered my family.  Couldn?t believe that finally I had my beast with me after soo many difficulties and confusion.

Sharing some first day memories of my beast as it?s turning 2000km soon.

I don?t  understand the concept of DRL on activa they too are very powerful.

I loved the way DUKE 250 DRLS are put they look good at all day as they are not so powerful

Hello Riders,

One request to all dominar riders . Please don?t use high beam on city limits  use  low beam instead.

 Dominars high beams ( Day running lights)are very powerful  which make the upcoming person blind . Please avoid using it on city limits .

If you find any Rider using high beam at city limits please ask them to switch it off  . You guyz can also post Picture with tag DOCB with #saynotohighbeam #DOCB

I guess they do the same in India being the most premium bike on Bajaj line up . They will try to maintain some standards.
 E.g. specialised technicians staff for Dominar at service Center . If you observe at SC not everyone will service dominar they will ask to wait until assigned person be there . And pre service booking to book your service .

Race Concepts, a car and motorcycle tuning store based out of Bengaluru, has modified the Bajaj Dominar 400 for more power and torque. The modified Dominar with 20% more power and torque than the stock bike is now India?s most powerful Dominar 400.

So what are the modifications done?

First, the bike features a modified engine head, second, the ECU has been remapped, third, a free-flow exhaust has been installed and lastly, the modified bike is given a free flow air filter. All these changes and additions push the wheel horsepower (HP measured at the wheel) to 33 HP. The stock Dominar makes 27 HP at the wheel accounting for transmission losses. Torque has also gone up to 32 Nm from 27 Nm. At the crank, the modified Dominar is likely to produce over 40 HP of power and 40 Nm of torque, the standard Dominar makes 34.5 HP and 35 Nm of torque.

So much so, that with the Bajaj Dominar 400, Bajaj has been indirectly taking digs on Royal Enfield, especially the Royal Enfield Classic. There are several changes which have been made to the Bajaj Dominar in order to make it a full-fledged police bike. The changes evident from the pictures include new livery - which is as per the Istanbul police, there?s an inclusion of red-blue emergency lights, siren, a tall wind-deflector and a luggage rack has been fitted at the back which mounts a luggage box. The bike also gets knuckle protectors and headlamp protector as well, which look neat and incorporate turn indicators too.

The Dominar that?s sold in Turkey is Euro-4 emission norm compliant and offers dual-channel ABS ? which is indicated by the sticker on the front fender.

ECU Update 117 / What is ECU? how does it help and what does it do

We are electric beings vibrating within an energetic universe. The purpose of life is growth and development. When we cease to grow, we die. Therefore we must always be advancing and progressing forward, for this is the great law of life and living. And the automotive industry is perhaps the greatest example of that. It is always advancing, always growing and always coming out with better pieces of machinery.

When man`s fascination for speed and power reaches new levels and technology grows by leaps and bounds, engines cannot be far behind. But as engines continue to produce staggering amounts of power and emissions take a toll on the environment there has come a time when mechanical advancements solely cannot do the job of keeping the engine in sound health all the time. There has to be a governing mechanism which controls everything from emissions and Air/Fuel ratio to power and torque.

Under the hood of today`s cars and motorcycles (premium ones) beats a highly evolved heart. Here the ECU comes to play. There is a complexity never before imagined, and the Engine/Electronic Control Unit (ECU) plays a major role in the performance of the engine. An ECU controls and maintains an engine in it`s optimum state by manipulating the sensors and actuators which result in changes of the air-fuel mixture, ignition timing and idle speed. The ECU is to an engine what a CEO is to a company. It manages all the running aspects of the engine and let`s the user know when something is wrong.

Now let us take an analogy of the human respiratory system to understand the automobile engine. We breathe in through our nose which filters the harmful/impure air and lets in only fresh air rich in Oxygen ; then we breathe out and expel Carbon Dioxide. In between, the air goes inside our wind pipe, through to our lungs where it is mixed with blood and is used up by our body for it`s growth and development. All of this happens simultaneously and never stops.

Something similar happens inside an engine : The engine breathes in oxygen rich air mixed with fuel through the intake system which comprises of the air filter and intake valves and breathes out CO, NOx and HCs through the exhaust valves and catalytic converter and then finally exits through the tail pipe. In between, the air and fuel mix is utilized to produce power and to do useful work. To do this process efficiently and consistently, an ECU is needed.

Functions Of An ECU:
Air/fuel mixture control: It determines the amount of air and fuel entering into the engine and accordingly plans the combustion process by varying the amount of fuel delivered through the Fuel Injectors.

Ignition timing control: There is a certain crank angle in the compression stroke which gives maximum torque output if the air/fuel mix is ignited at that point. ECU decides this and accordingly fires the spark plugs.

Idle speed control: It controls the idle speed of the engine depending on the ambient temperature, engine oil temperature and coolant temperature of an engine. This is the reason that when starting the engine for the first time in the morning, the RPM is more compared to normal idle RPM. This is controlled by the ECU.
Advantages & Disadvantages Of ECU:
* Precise metering of fuel for better mileage and lesser emissions
* Expensive
* Good throttle response for more responsive engine performance
* Difficult to work on

Nice write up as to what Touring Motorcycles are. It would have been great if the fuel tank of Dominar was bigger anyways it's a nice bike for long journeys on the tarmac.

Yeah completely agree on it . Only draw back of dominar would be small fuel tank and also Bajaj can rethink of adding some helpful features like the gear indicator etc . Which would help us on touring.

In September 2017, UM Motorcycles India had revealed plans to launch sub-500cc adventure motorcycles in India. It seems like the company is keeping its word as Bikers for Good has spotted two UM Adventure bikes in India.

The one with the alloy wheels seems to be the UM Hypersport and the other with the spoke wheels looks like a UM DSR II. The Hypersport is a supermoto-style motorcycle, while the DSR II is a proper off-road bike. UM Motorcycles India hasn?t revealed the launch dates of the bikes; however, initial reports suggest that the bikes are imported into the country to gauge customer feedback. That said, the UM DSR II is expected to be launched by the end of this year. The UM Hypersport, being a supermoto bike, is unlikely to be launched in India, this type of body style hardly sells in the country.

Internationally, both the bikes are available with multiple engine options, but the India-spec models are likely to get a 223 cc single-cylinder engine. The global-spec engine produces 16 bhp of max power at 7,500 rpm and 17.69 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. While the international-spec models get USD forks, the bikes seen here are equipped with conventional telescopic forks, along with a likely mono-shock at the rear. Both bikes get disc brakes at the front and rear along with an under-seat mounted exhaust muffler.
